Take time to enjoy what you have

Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.”  William Feather.

This morning I was pondering about happiness….are you happy?

Just under a year ago I started up a business, something I have always wanted to do.  I have read up about start-ups, I looked for opportunities, I pursued many different options – but because of the stress that comes with being self employed, I was wondering if this was really worth the effort I putting in.

By no means will I offer you a psychological solution to finding happiness and inner peace.  Happiness has a different meaning to each person.  Take a moment and think about it.  One of your dearest moments is falling in love, and having a family.  Another great moment is stepping out of your comfort zone and pursuing an opportunity that you are passionate about.  You are living your “dream”, but you are tied down by the responsibility of your dream that you don’t enjoy your family life, and the  paper work and routine that never seems to end.

Amazing enough, I was offered an opportunity to have a holiday at the coast, like most start-up entrepreneurs, I thought it is crazy to take time out now.  I needed to work harder at pursuing more clients.  I needed to put more effort into what I was already doing.  Even though I was tired and stressed out.

Rest was exactly what I needed.  I took some time out and watch the sunrise over the ocean most mornings.  I enjoyed the warm autumn days sitting on the beach.  My days were spent having coffee dates with my friends and  meals with my family.  To my surprise – that was what I needed – time out to get refreshed and enjoy what I have.

Coming back home was just as rewarding as the time away.  I had a new client waiting for me to get back to work.  This client realized that it was time to take the plunge and get an Administrative Partner to take the administration burden off her shoulders. Her reason for coming to this realization – all she did was work – and she had no time to enjoy her family or friends.

Well that brings me back to you – have you given some thought to what you can do to stop and enjoy what you have?

If your dream is taking up all your time, and after hours you still need to get the admin out of the way before spending time with the family, then it is time to consider partnering with an administrative consultant.
